Research and sourcing
We start with a defined reader question and consult relevant primary sources, such as product documentation and official search guidance. We cite sources near the claims they support. A product vendor is a useful source for its documented features, but its marketing claims are not independent evidence of results.
Writing and review
Our workflow is research, outline, draft, factual review, editing and link checks. We may use AI assistance for research organization and drafting. AI output is not itself evidence. We check claims against sources and remove invented quotes, personal experience and unsupported credentials. We do not describe a tool as tested unless the article reports work that was actually performed.
Bylines and dates
Current bylines identify editorial teams. They are not invented individual authors. Publication dates record this edition’s publication, and substantive revisions receive an updated date where appropriate. We do not manufacture a history for newly published material.
Recommendations and commercial interests
A comparison should explain its criteria, limitations and the reader it serves. We do not sell a favorable conclusion. Paid relationships and affiliate arrangements, when present, must be clearly disclosed. Read our advertising disclosure.
Corrections and updates
Documentation and software change. We welcome specific corrections with supporting sources. Material factual corrections should be explained on the affected article; small spelling and formatting fixes may be made without a separate notice. See our corrections process.
What our guidance can establish
Search performance depends on many factors. An article cannot diagnose every website or guarantee an outcome. We distinguish general principles from an assessment of a particular site and encourage readers to validate important changes in their own environment.
